The prayer " Avinu Shebashamaim" (Hebrew for "Our Father in Heaven") is traditionally the prayer for help and protection for the State of Israel, the leaders and defenders of the country. It is part of the Jewish prayer book and is prayed on Israel's Independence Day. In many communities, this prayer is also said or sung on Shabbat.
